I am reading a book right now about Hildegard von Bingen and she said that spelt makes the soul happy and body healthy. I think she is right! I changed all kind of wheat food to spelt food and my health (always a problem) is improving now.
Since the last years slow food became more and more important for me. Cooking good meals and having organic things to eat is everyday's luxury and the least I can do for me to treat me well.
Here are some insights in food and kitchen stuff, my favorite salads and meals.
Heaven on my table! A visit at my local health food store (called "Heaven and earth") and all you can dream of.
Selfmade bread with symbols on it.
There are only a few meals I ever eat without sunflower seeds. Tip: Toast them with a bit of sea salt.
My morning Müsli is quite simple: I am toasting 6 different grain flakes with a bit of raw sugar and sel gris (sea salt from France), mix it with sunflower seeds and some yoghurt.
There really is nothing as good as a fresh salad. I eat one most every day.
This is one of my favorite: Cook Spirelli pasta as usual, let them get cold, add arugula and dried tomatoes, an onion, fresh herbs, maybe garlic, salt, pepper, mustard and a good oil.
Always use a good pan when you are cooking, don't go for this teflon crap, it's not good for your health!
Change your normal cheese to goat cheese, it's much better and it tastes wonderful!
Make your own bread speads! It's easier than you think.
My favorite spread.
Melt 1/2 package of butter in a pot. It must not be too liquid, only creamy.
Chop a spring onion and grind a carrot and stir it with the butter.
Add tomato purée til it makes a nice mix (it will get hard in the fridge). Also add salt, pepper, garlic powder and herbs.
You can also use other grinded vegetables. Just be creative!
Store it in the fridge for 2-3 hours or better overnight for full flavour and good consistency.
Let your food and cooking be happiness and joy!
Alright, I bet you are all hungry by now, well, visit your local whole food store and be seduced by the offers....Yum!
was just browsing while writing my grocery list, I add berries (at this time of year from my freezer) to my yogurt and muesli in the morning!! And I agree food is the perfect way to take care of yourself!! But where is the chocolate?!!

ReplyDeleteWhat a coincidence, one of my journal prompts this morning was something about food, the difference between what we call ''normal'' food and slow food. I don't know much about this kind of stuff but I really should read more about it. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteenjoyed all of your photographs and slow cooking! So glad that you're enjoying each moment of life! Sending you warm wishes, Susanne
