A happy winter solstice to everyone
Always a lovely day of the year: the coming back of the light! The wheel is turning and the dark is changing.
I live high in the north of our country, only the Baltic sea is seperating me from Sweden. So days are very short by now. Sunset at around 4 p.m. and to know it will grow a bit more (de)lightful every day from tomorrow on is just gorgeous!
I have spun a yule yarn, sitting in the winter sun. This was perfect!
It has the colours of dark violet (the darkness), red and green (traditional Xmas colours of the reborn life), yellow and white (the sun and the light) and silver (the moon). The fibers come from three different animals: Sheep, Goat (Mohair) and butterfly (silk) and from a plant: flax (linen).
This is my Yule log.
The log will burn tonight and I will keep a piece of it and also the ashes, symbols of a good fertile year to come.
A merry Yule to all my blogreaders, may you enjoy the light! xox

The return of the light...what a wonderful reason to celebrate.
ReplyDeleteI cant imagine days that short. Over here in the darkest time of winter it get dark around 5 - 5.30, but not for long. I must admit I always look forward to our winter solstice and the promise of longer and lighter days.
Sendng you much love at Christmas and wishing you and your family a happy and peaceful Christmas.
